Having grown up in Des Moines, Tom Sullivan values the quality of life the city has to offer and the opportunities he has had at Nyemaster. As a national insurance hub, Des Moines offers a natural path for Tom to focus his practice on the organizational and regulatory matters in insurance law. He serves many Iowa insurance companies and their affiliates in national operations as well as national insurers in their Iowa regulatory activities.

 

“I enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in how insurance issues are addressed, not just within the sphere of Iowa, but also at a national level,” he says. He works in transactional and business law as well, representing clients in business activities such as mergers and acquisitions, business formation, corporate governance and control issues, sales and purchases of assets, and equity interests.

 

Tom is the Executive Director of and General Counsel for the Iowa Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association and has served the National Organization of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations, chairing several committees over the years as well as serving on its board.

 

Tom is a frequent industry speaker and has participated in various sections of the Iowa State Bar Association. He has served on numerous boards and been active in community organizations and serves on several private foundations.

 

Tom is a frequent speaker on transactional matters and insurance and investment product distribution matters.
