Legal Technical Support Specialist II -- General

This position is responsible for technical support services to users of the Firm’s computers. The technical support specialist responds to user problems, both software and hardware applications. This position will also be responsible for installing software upgrades when required; running diagnostics on computer hardware.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Respond to staff, attorneys, and client requests seeking assistance with software- or computer-related issues
  • Learn the environment and processes of our digital environment so you can work with users to help them to accomplish their tasks and goals
  • Aid the development team in conceptualizing updates and upgrades that will enhance users' experience
  • Walk customers through the steps to achieve a goal in our software on the phone
  • Maintain a high level of courteous customer service at all times
  • Schedule, and perform as directed, software and hardware upgrades, patches and reconfigurations as assigned
  • Expert in functions of Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016/2019, resource for creating templates, style sheets, etc.
  • Set up and maintain Outlook organization  
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of network printers
  • Respond to help desk inquiries and follow departmental procedures for trouble tickets
  • Be a part of a team and Collaborate with the IT staff for problem resolution
  • Assist in deployment of workstations, servers, printers, and scanners
  • Escalate server & network incidents to Director of Technology and/or Senior Systems Administrator
  • On-call rotation – approximately 1-2 times per month

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College or technical school degree in the field of computer science and/or 2-3 years equivalent work experience
  • 3 or more years of experience working with computer hardware / software
  • Legal specific software such as Filesite, Worksite, Workshare, Aderant, preferred.
  • Law firm or legal professional services background a plus.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Operating Systems desired, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to communicate computer terms and ideas effectively and efficiently to attorneys, managers and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously effectively and timely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with Shareholders attorneys, staff attorneys, administrative and clerical staff and clients in person, by e-mail and telephone; to facilitate training sessions for both staff and attorneys.
  • Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of information processing with diverse, changing applications, advanced technical experience with desktop computers, servers and network switching equipment.
  • Be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions with attorneys and staff.
  • Periodic travel to satellite offices to manage the law office's technology systems.
  • Work is normally 40 hours per week with some weekends and nights.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and changing temperatures.
  • Some lifting of equipment and supplies of less than 50 lbs will be required.
