Baker Honored by Iowa Taxpayers Association

Nyemaster attorney Bruce W. Baker has been named the 2025 recipient of the Iowa Taxpayers Association’s Linda S. Weindruch Award.
Given in memory and recognition of a long-time Iowa Taxpayers Association leader and policy shaper, the Weindruch Award is presented annually to individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and integrity in advancing fair and principled business tax policy in Iowa.
Baker was recognized for his successful representation of taxpayers in a wide variety of tax matters, including several landmark Iowa tax cases, and for his efforts associated with tax reform legislation, including the Iowa Taxpayers Bill of Rights Act and the modernization of Iowa’s sales and use tax laws.
A trusted attorney and CPA with over three decades at Nyemaster, Baker focuses on tax dispute resolution and estate planning. He represents clients in matters involving the IRS, Iowa Department of Revenue, and local taxing authorities, and advises on succession planning, charitable giving, and nonprofit formation. Prior to joining Nyemaster, he served as a trial attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, gaining early exposure to complex tax litigation. Known for his clarity, objectivity, and problem-solving skills, Baker is deeply committed to helping clients navigate the intricacies of tax law.
At the 90th Annual Tax Symposium on December 4, Bruce will be presented with the award in recognition of his impressive career of service to the legal profession, the Iowa Taxpayers Association, and Iowa business.
