Boyd Receives Iowa State Bar Association’s Highest Honor

Nyemaster Goode attorney Willard L. Boyd III was awarded the Iowa State Bar Association’s Award of Merit, the highest honor the ISBA can bestow upon an individual.

 

Created in 1947, the ISBA’s Award of Merit is awarded to an individual in recognition of their selfless dedication to the legal profession, the bar association, and their communities. The recipient is voted upon by the Board of Governors and is presented the award in conjunction with the ISBA’s Annual Meeting.

 

Boyd is a past president of the ISBA (2019-2020) and a past member of the ISBA’s Board of Governors. He has chaired both the ISBA’s Business Law Section and the Trade Regulation Section and served on the Health Law Section Council and the Annual Meeting Committee. In the community, among the organizations Boyd has served on the board of directors of are Iowa Legal Aid and the Iowa Legal Aid Foundation, ChildServe, Variety, Mercy College of Health Sciences, the University of Iowa Alumni Association and Humanities Iowa.

 

Boyd concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, regulatory law, and commercial law and represents clients in the financial services, insurance, health care, and nonprofit sectors. He is a frequent speaker on corporate governance, privacy, and business entity issues and editor of two books published by the American Bar Association focusing on nonprofit law and governance.

 

The Iowa State Bar Association is the oldest voluntary state bar association in the United States and represents approximately 6.500 lawyers and judges licensed to practice law in the state of Iowa. The ISBA facilitates professional growth and collegiality among Iowa attorneys. Its mission is to support members and their service to clients, community, and the judicial system.
