Nyemaster Goode, P.C., has elected Coreen K. Sweeney as Chair and Hallie Still-Caris as President, marking the first time the two highest leadership roles at Iowa's largest law firm will be held by women.

Nyemaster Goode has a strong tradition of developing outstanding women attorneys, a number of whom have served on its Executive Committee. One-third of Nyemaster Goode’s shareholders are women and 50 percent of the attorneys admitted as shareholders in the past two years are women. The firm has 95 attorneys in offices in Des Moines, Ames and Cedar Rapids.

“It’s an honor to be selected by our Executive Committee to lead Nyemaster Goode,” Sweeney said. “Our firm has a rich history that values equality and diversity, and appreciates the inherent advantage our no-barriers culture provides with respect to the advice and perspective we offer our clients. I am proud to represent that legacy in our highest office.”

Sweeney is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and handles both insurance litigation and workers’ compensation matters, and also serves as a mediator. She is a past president of the Iowa Association of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers and has held multiple leadership positions in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Iowa State Bar Association. Sweeney joined Nyemaster Goode in 2000. Named to The Best Lawyers of America® since 2013, she was named “Lawyer of the Year for Workers’ Compensation Law for Employers” in Des Moines in 2013. She is a graduate of Drake University Law School and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa.

Still-Caris joined Nyemaster Goode in 1996 and practices in the Business, Finance and Real Estate Department. Her practice is focused on commercial real estate finance. She also advises businesses on general corporate and real estate matters, as well as compliance with environmental laws. A past chair of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Council, Still-Caris has held board positions with numerous community organizations including the United Way of Central Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and the Downtown Community Alliance. She has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers of America®.
