Nelson Named Fellow in American College of Mortgage Attorneys

February 26, 2025

Nyemaster Goode attorney Mary Katherine Nelson was selected as a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA).

Formed in 1974, the ACMA is comprised of approximately 500 lawyers in North America who are experts in real estate finance and mortgage lending transactions. ACMA Fellows share a commitment to giving back to their profession, improving and reforming laws and procedures affecting real estate secured transactions, and raising the level of professionalism of lawyers practicing in this area.

Fellows have distinguished themselves as practitioners in the field of real estate finance law through their skills and practice experience, bar association activities, lecturing, authoring articles and program materials, participation in the legislative process, and writing briefs or arguing cases that are significant to real estate lending transactions.

When asked what being named as an ACMA Fellow meant to her, Nelson stated “ACMA attorneys are the gold standard in our profession. I’m honored to have been nominated and selected to join ACMA’s distinguished ranks. I’m most looking forward to building relationships with other Fellows and using ACMA’s network of resources to continue to elevate Nyemaster’s robust commercial mortgage lending practice for our clients.”

With a practice concentrated in the areas of commercial real estate finance and general commercial real estate and business transactions, Nelson represents lenders and borrowers in negotiating, documenting, and closing loans secured by commercial property.  She works primarily with insurance company and banking clients, drafting and negotiating loan documents and completing due diligence. She also regularly assists clients in real estate acquisitions/sales, development projects, and commercial leasing matters.

Nelson is the third active Nyemaster attorney named as an ACMA fellow, joining James Wine and Hallie Still-Caris.
