Nyemaster Goode's Intellectual Property Group Grows with the Addition of Another Attorney

March 3, 2017

Nyemaster Goode, P.C. is pleased to announce that Allison E. Kerndt has joined the firm as a shareholder in its rapidly growing Intellectual Property practice.  Her addition brings Nyemaster’s intellectual property legal talent to more than a dozen intellectual property lawyers, including 10 registered patent attorneys.

Allison focuses her practice on advising clients on issues related to the management of their intellectual property portfolios. Her experience spans a wide range of technical areas, including pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetic arts, biomedical devices, electronic devices, and business methods. She is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She has significant experience representing parties in intellectual property litigation matters.

Allison received her B.S.E., with honors, in Chemical Engineering from The University of Iowa College of Engineering in 2002 and her J.D., with distinction, from The University of Iowa College of Law in 2005. She has more than a decade of experience in intellectual property, which includes a judicial clerkship with the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the court that hears appeals of all patent litigation in the country.
Allison can be contacted at (515) 283-3193 or akerndt@nyemaster.com.

“We are excited to welcome Allison to the firm.  She joins us with a commitment to client service that’s a perfect match for Nyemaster and our growing intellectual property law and litigation practice,” said Jeff Harty, Administrative Chair of Nyemaster Goode’s Intellectual Property practice. “She brings with her a sophisticated level of experience in the area of intellectual property, including patent litigation. She will provide tremendous value to our clients who rely on Nyemaster to protect their intellectual property.”

Michael Thrall, Nyemaster Goode’s Managing Shareholder, said “Allison’s patent prosecution and extensive litigation experience as well as her experience working for Chief Judge Rader on the Federal Circuit, complements Jeff Harty’s over two decades of experience in intellectual property litigation and trial experience and the other intellectual property litigators in the firm to form a formidable IP litigation team that is unmatched in experience throughout Iowa or the region.”

The growth of Nyemaster’s intellectual property group since 2014 has been extraordinary. Nyemaster Goode has more than doubled the number of registered patent attorneys in its offices in that time.

In addition to Allison, the attorneys that have been a part of the rapid growth of the firm’s department include: Jeff Harty, an accomplished intellectual property litigator; Todd Van Thomme, an experienced patent attorney with a diverse intellectual property practice; Dan Blakeslee, a patent prosecutor with over 10 years of experience as an engineer; Judge Stuart Levy, a former Administrative Judge from the United States Patent and Trademark Office; and Shyam Goswami, an intellectual property attorney who also worked as an engineer before practicing law.

“The growth of our Intellectual Property department in connection with both litigation and prosecution of patents and trademarks allows us to provide our clients with deeper levels of service, knowledge, and experience. As we continue expanding our scope of services, we are thrilled to welcome these experienced attorneys to the firm,” Thrall said.
