Bryce W.
Tish

“At the end of the day, we’re solving complex issues for people who have real problems.”

“I want to be an Iowa lawyer,” attorney Bryce Tish says. “I was born and raised in Iowa. This is where I want to spend the rest of my life. I love Iowa. This is where I’m building my career.”

Working in employment and commercial litigation, Bryce has a wide-ranging practice. He thrives on problem-solving and assisting clients through difficult situations. “Almost every day challenges me to think differently and to approach matters from a different angle,” he says.

Bryce’s legal approach starts with two elements: attitude and effort. “Attitude and effort get you where you need to go,” he says. “Keep your head up. Keep doing good work, no matter what punches are thrown.” That’s key to his success.

In working with clients, Bryce strives to be timely and always take care of his clients’ needs. He works to be respectful, be a good listener, and be a caring professional. “It’s important for my clients—and for me—to understand things at a fundamental level,” he says. “I try to apply that fundamental understanding in a way that either hasn’t been argued before or in whatever way the case needs.”

Because he’s litigated on both the plaintiff and defense sides, Bryce has an insightful perspective. “I can foresee how other counsel is thinking about the issues and how I would approach them from their perspective,” he says. “It helps me, from the defense side, to understand what the plaintiff might be going through.”

An undergraduate degree in political science and economics pairs diverse fields that go hand-in-hand. “Political science gave me more of a philosophical perspective on the functions of government,” he says. “Economics is basically the study of decision-making and how people rationally or irrationally make decisions.” Law school was the logical next step.

Although Bryce always had his sights on law school, his father sealed the deal. A salesman, his father always told Bryce that, given the opportunity to do it again, he would become a lawyer. “That’s something that motivated me to perform as best as I could,” Bryce says. “I really don’t think I would be here today without his influence.”

Family influence and connection extend beyond Bryce’s law practice. His family is a short distance away—feeding his desire for strong community ties. An active outdoorsman, Bryce hunts, fishes, hikes, and explores. His two energetic Labradors, Ruby and Randy, are working hunting dogs and beloved pets that command his attention.

With all the pieces in place, Bryce is fulfilling his career goals by helping clients get favorable outcomes. “Often, this is the lowest point in our clients’ lives,” he says. “It’s satisfying to solve those problems for them.”
