Summary: Our growing commercial mortgage lending team is seeking a legal assistant
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare loan information and transaction terms for attorney review and use in generating loan documents.
- Merge, redline, revise, proofread, and finalize loan documents as directed by attorneys.
- Assemble executed signature pages with final loan documents and maintain organized electronic closing books.
- Track outstanding post-closing items, including title policies and recorded documents.
- Communicate and follow up with clients, title companies, and other parties until all post-closing documentation is received.
- Review final title policies against approved forms and identify discrepancies or missing information for attorney review.
- Prepare and send final loan documents and closing materials to lender clients.
- Retrieve attorney time from the firm’s billing system, organize information in Excel, and prepare manual invoices as requested.
- Assist attorneys throughout the loan process, from opening the matter through closing and completion of post-closing requirements.
- Manage multiple active loan matters and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Exhibit initiative and a willingness to learn all aspects of corporate and mortgage lending support.
- On-site daily attendance is required for secured computer access, client confidentiality, and in-person collaboration.

Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional approach when working with clients, attorneys, title companies, and other parties.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document comparison, redlining, formatting, and mail merge.
- Proficiency in Outlook and Excel, including maintaining transaction-tracking spreadsheets.
- Excellent proofreading, organizational, and document-management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions, priorities, and deadlines independently.
- Ability to work accurately and calmly in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Experience with Aderant or a document-management system is helpful but not required.
