Nyemaster Goode attorney Kevin Patrick has been appointed to the City of Des Moines’ newly created Community Policing and Code Enforcement Policy and Practice Review Committee. The Committee was created as part of the Racial Profiling Ordinance passed by the Des Moines City Council in June.

The Committee is tasked with reviewing data and recommendations for policy and practice modifications to improve law enforcement policies and practices related to the delivery of unbiased policing and code enforcement in the city. Patrick is one of three Des Moines residents appointed to the Committee, which also includes members of the Civil and Human Rights Commission, housing appeals board, community development department, a member of the police department and a youth member from the community.

Patrick was nominated by Des Moines Councilman Carl Voss and his appointment was confirmed by the Des Moines City Council on August 17, 2020.

A member of Nyemaster Goode’s litigation department, Patrick joined the firm in 2019 after six years as an Assistant County Attorney with the Office of the Polk County Attorney. He received his J.D. from Drake University and currently serves on the Drake Law Board of Counselors and the Iowa Access to Justice Commission.
