Nyemaster Goode Admits Five as Shareholders

Nyemaster Goode, P.C. today announced that five associate attorneys have been admitted to the firm as shareholders. Daniel M. Blakeslee, Lynn Herndon, Brianna Long, Matthew A. McGuire and Naomi Smith became shareholders effective January 1, 2021.

 

 

Daniel Blakeslee is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. His practice focuses primarily on helping clients secure intellectual property rights by drafting and prosecuting patents. Prior to joining Nyemaster, Dan served as global intellectual property coordinator and in-house legal counsel for a major domestic white goods manufacturer. He also has over ten years of experience as a product engineer in the automotive industry, working for both original equipment manufacturers and their tier 1 suppliers.

 

 

Lynn Herndon is a seasoned litigator who spent many years with an AmLaw 100 firm in Kansas City before joining Nyemaster Goode in 2019.  A member of the firm’s Litigation Department, her practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and commercial litigation. She has experience in a variety of technologies, including healthcare software, medical devices, wearable technology, video game animation, and food production. Other litigation experience includes shareholder and contract disputes, and employment litigation.  Lynn’s work has resulted in summary judgment and trial wins, injunctive relief, and substantial damage awards for her clients.  A Des Moines native, Lynn is thrilled to be back in Iowa, practicing in her hometown.

 

 

Brianna Long is a member of the firm's Litigation Department where her practice is focused on complex commercial litigation matters including contract disputes, business torts, and class actions, as well as employment litigation. She handles matters at all stages, from pre-litigation advice to appellate matters. She has significant experience representing clients in the financial services and real estate industries. She was a litigator with an AmLaw 200 firm in Phoenix before returning to Iowa and joining Nyemaster Goode in 2018.

 

 

Matt McGuire is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department where his practice is a mix of commercial and business litigation and intellectual property litigation across multiple industries. Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as a law clerk to the Honorable James E. Gritzner, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Iowa. He also practiced with an international law firm in Washington, D.C., where he handled a variety of antitrust and litigation matters.

 

 

Naomi Smith is a member of both the firm’s Business, Finance and Real Estate Department and its Tax, Estate Planning and Employee Benefits Department. Based in Nyemaster’s Cedar Rapids office, her broad practice includes a range of commercial and business matters, including mergers and acquisitions, general business transactions, and securities matters, as well as wealth transfer and tax planning, trust and estate matters, and family business planning. Prior to joining Nyemaster Goode, Naomi was a partner at a law firm in Oklahoma City. Before her legal career, Naomi had the honor of serving as a Major in the United States Air Force.
